Lot Title: 1827 Square 2 O-106 PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 658
Description: Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-106 is one of the possibly underrated die-marriages for 1827 that eludes attribution because it is so similar in layout to other dies that were also produced at a high level of quality, and examples were struck prolifically. For a high-grade and very appealing example like this, observe slight recutting of the top of "L" in LIBERTY, then on the reverse, compare the extended vertical lines in the shield to known examples. Strong platinum-blonde luster endows the entire coin with a clean, brilliant yet not-too-bright appearance that also enjoys an exceptional strike. Presence of minute, scattered contact nicks and a few tiny crumbles of PVC on the reverse likely delimit the grade.
