Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1808 PCGS MS-60 (green label)
Lot Number: 586
Description: Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-106 (R.3). The prime die-state lacks any obvious die cracks on the obverse, although a slender crack has already formed above UNITED on the reverse. A small dot above the eagle's left (observed) shoulder confirms ready attribution of a scarce die-marriage. For the date, the strike must have been unusually pronounced in order to produce so much sharpness and sparkling luster, and a modestly curious pattern of rich pumpkin-orange at top and bottom of the obverse borders a silvery center. This example may have strong claims to full mint-state status although a number of small contact marks pepper the obverse left field and cabinet friction shows on the eagle's head and a few feathers.
