Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1860 Proof UNC details/rim damage, and an 1872 Proof UNC details/cleaned, both PCGS
Lot Number: 987
Description: Rim damage for 1860 shows as curiously consistent tiny nicks completely around either side, lying atop the rim. Very close examination reveals microscopic verdigris, suggesting the coin may have been mounted in a high copper content bezel for a long time. Of the 1000 minted, most were melted, while mintage for 1872 was even lower at 950. The latter coin perhaps shows only as many hairlines as a PR-61/62 example, but they somehow seem deeper than what is usually seen, inescapably leading to a "cleaned" disclaimer. Two coin lot.
