Lot Number: 473
Description: VAM-5 has several reported die-states, but none is a precise match for this sensational example, which the cataloger grades MS-63. A phenomenally beautiful, vibrant rainbow arcs over the upper and right obverse, endowed with stunning, rich indigo, royal blue, plum-gold, chartreuse and salmon-purple hues. Tiny die breaks eject left off the flag of "1" and right off the bottom of "3" in the date, suggesting VAM-5C, but the multiple clashes that should exist right of the eagle's wing have been effaced from the dies, as if this were a VAM-5C/B hybrid. A conundrum for the specialist who also happens to enjoy silver dollars with exceptionally classy toning.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
