Lot Title: 1880/79-CC, Reverse of 1878 GSA BU
Lot Number: 466
Description: VAM-4, Top-100. Cataloger's grade: MS-62. Much better with the 2nd reverse (reverse of 1878 with concave eagle's breast), the marriage between the overdate and earlier reverse elevates the scarcity of this premium Carson City. Both sides shimmer with gorgeous Arctic frost and the grade would climb higher if not for a noticeable coin-to-coin scrape on Liberty's chin. An extremely well struck and incomparably original example. Not many of these remain in GSA holders and this example deserves to remain well-preserved within its protective government encasement.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
