Description: The First National Bank of Clayton, Missouri. Large notes in circulated condition often show the curious anomaly of darker toning on one half -- sometimes the left or right half, and sometimes the bottom or top half -- separated by a strong crease. Obviously, the sheer size of these notes required creative folding down to make them fit well into one's wallet. The left half here appears fully two shades darker than the right, while the paper itself possesses that warm "feel" characteristic of honest circulation. Problem-free with no apparent pinholes.
