Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1799 F
Lot Number: 514
Description: Bolender-21, BB-169 (R.3). The obverse die went through a progression of failures, making B-21 one of the more enjoyable entries in the series to collect by die-state. For this Die State V example, the obverse has become extensively cracked, and near terminal with intersecting cracks at the date, left of the lower curls, through "TY" and the neighboring star, and with additional, multiple cracks off the end of the bust. In addition, the reverse die, also used on B-14, shows plenty of defects of its own, including chips beneath "AM". A near-fabulous example given the cataloger's grade of only Fine, showing exceptionally deep, vintage cream-grey and charcoal patina.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
