Remnants of a prior "D" can easily be located just right of the primary mintmark, made all the more easier as a result of the high grade and excellent preservation. Even aside from the variety, this is an outstanding coin that boasts gorgeous, granite-textured luster, peculiar to the 1911-D, and a better strike than usual as a type.
