Lot Title: 1861 PCGS MS-60 (green label)
Lot Number: 371
Description: The Edellmann-Thomas Collection.Nearly three million twenties were struck in 1861 at Philadelphia, and advent of the Civil War caused them to be set aside in large numbers, making it the most obtainable type-1 . Here is an exceptionally intriguing examples, struck using a heavily rusted obverse die, as can be inferred by the bold orange peel effect that dominates the portrait. Some faint vertical hairlines in the obverse left field may have limited the grade at PCGS, but without question, this coin appears to be FIVE points undergraded at first glance!
