Description: The Independent Clause Collection. Mintage: 64,405. 19 graded AU-53, 45 higher at PCGS. Given the rarity of 1847-D in mint-state, attributed partially to a relatively low mintage, even an AU-53 example should elicit plenty of interest from an attentive audience. Compelling corn-gold color emanates from the surface, and enough luster probably remains to satisfy an AU-55 grade. However, PCGS may have deducted a point or two because of an almost perfectly rectangular lamination resting on top of the portrait. Surprisingly well detailed given the mint of orientation.
