Description: The Bootheel Collection. Overton-106a features a "tampered 3" in the date, easily attributed by its distinctively misshapen center, caused by modification of the die. The surface appears to be extraordinarily original, hosting lovely dove-grey and russet peach overtones. O-106a virtually never comes fully struck and this example displays pretty much typical detailing overall, with trifling bluntness over some curls and some stars not fully brought up. Many collectors might expect more luster for AU-58, but the subdued effect seen here only happens when a coin is original as can be, as seems to be the case here.
