Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1872 NGC PR-64 CAMEO, 1882 PCGS PR-65 (green label), and an 1883 PCGS PR-65 (green label)
Lot Number: 662
Description: Michael Scott Collection. Proof representatives play up the stark, yet somehow attractive shield nickel design with the best representation (proof) that the mint could attain during the later 1800s. Obvious cameo effect dances over 1872 and this example is struck from the usual doubled-die obverse, the grade appears mostly determined by a fair number of smaller carbon spots. 1882 offers a much lower contrast presentation as the fields are nearly as frosted as the devices, and there are no noticeable blemishes. Finally, 1883 offers much the appearance of a commercial striking, with its strong luster and low-contrast presentation, but there is some slightly cameo effect visible over the mildly carbon-spotted surface. Three coin lot.
