Description: The 1877-S, like many contemporary double-eagles, is virtually never found "choice", with MS-61 and MS-62 comprising the huge majority of mint-state examples. This limits what's available to collectors, and this dynamic piece is about as heavily abraded as expected. Several significant contact marks target Liberty's face and the field in front of her brow. Nevertheless, it is a very well struck example from an era that proves challenging to collect.
