Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1911-D PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 350
Description: Mintage: 30,100. 91 graded MS-62, 67 higher at PCGS. Aside from the common Saint-Gaudens twenties, "1911-D" is enough of a sobriquet in any gold series to imply: "key date" in the minds of collectors, and the Indian eagle is no exception. The low emission represents the nadir for the entire series and all examples in all grades are coveted by aficionados.

Luster appears a bit muted for this ten, although by no means are there any breaks in continuity to indicate circulation wear. Indeed, the grade-limiting factors undoubtedly take into account fairly profuse yet diminutive abrasions, rather than any concerns over surface friction. Both sides feature quite decent details in spite of somewhat aged dies, as can be inferred by lingering orange peel effect. Splashes of carrot-gold iridescence show on the reverse.
