Description: J.R. Collection. Mintage: 72,500. 1911-D half-eagle (as well as the even more famous quarter-eagle) well deserves its reputation as the premier condition rarity for the series. Unlike its quarter-eagle sibling, however, the half-eagle doesn't experience problems with weaker mintmarks, and indeed, the "D" is sharp as can be, as is the rest of the coin. While NGC deems this an "UNC details" representative, there might be a flash of rub on the cheekbone, although the reverse appears genuinely free from circulation. The surface faces up with excessive brilliance which has resulted in the "cleaned" disclaimer, and slightly glossy hairlines further attest to some past improper process, but either side still retains perceptible luster.
