Lot Title: Roman Empire - Marcus Aurelius Caesar AD 139-161 F-12, and a Marcus Aurelius Denar AD 161-180 AU-55, both ANACS
Lot Number: 8
Description: The War Chest Collection. One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other. As it turns out, though, both these dead men are one and the same: Marcus Aurelius, who was appointed as seviri (one of the six commanders) in 139, and Emperor from 161 to 180. Roman coins represent those separate eras of his rule in this two coin lot (scotia).
