Description: The Mastodon Collection. Mintage: 38,500. 24 graded MS-65, 11 higher at PCGS. Phenomenally well-defined and slightly cameo in appearance, the dies may have been producing fully semi-prooflike examples not long before this example was struck. Light but definite strike doubling shows long the bottom edge of the eagle's right (observed) wing. Far rarer than the San Francisco issue, which carried the heavy lifting for the inaugural date in the series.
