Lot Title: 1936 Brilliant PCGS PR-66RD CACCAC
Lot Number: 607
Description: Kansas City Collection. 66 graded PR-66 RD, 7 higher at PCGS. 1936 was the first proof Lincoln cent officially produced after 1916 and it is relatively rare compared to all subsequent regular issues. The coin is particularly sought after in "brilliant" format (also called "type 2") since it more closely correlates to the appearance of the latter dates in the series. The "brilliant" specimens must have been struck in smaller numbers than their "matte proof" brethren because the certified population is respectively lower. This is a uniformly brilliant, deep crimson-red example with immaculate, vibrant mirrors and seemingly no hairlines worthy of mention. A couple of faint die cracks on the shoulder suggest later dies.
