Description: 12 graded MS-65+ RD, 138 higher at PCGS. Contemporary collectors knew the 1931-S had a comparatively low mintage (866,000), thus, speculators saved the issue by the bankroll, ensuring a very good future supply. Nevertheless, premium red examples are not easily found at the "gem" (or better) level. This is a cherry-gold example enriched with beautiful copper-red blush and sparking with prominent luster. Sharpness appears about average for the date, and the only contact mark of note might be a nick well hidden within Lincoln's upper cheek area.
