Lot Title: 1802 No Stems S-241 PCGS MS-64 CACCAC
Lot Number: 550
Description: Zodiac Consignment. Sheldon-241. 1 graded MS-64 BN, zero higher at PCGS. Ex-Husak Collection (not mentioned on the PCGS slab). The final "S" of STATES has been repunched over a wildly errant first punching, readily seen hanging on beneath the proper positioning. The blundered reverse die additionally features an extra fraction bar laying prominently across the tops of the digits in the fraction, and the die engraver also managed to forget to provide stems above the dangling ribbons. Strong clash marks show on both sides, especially in front of Liberty's throat.

As befits the grade, energetic luster shimmers through the fields and illuminates the lovely, natural colors, which include satiny mahogany hue, joined by splashes of crimson and some subtle bluish iridescence. A single tick floats out left of the portrait, and another appears on Liberty's neck, and perhaps a couple or so more gravitate into the obverse right field, all of these very minor. On the reverse, an old, brief pin scratch may be found between "D" and "S", but it has toned nicely along with the rest of the surface.
