Description: Crosby 2-B. Eric Newman's piece is an astonishing NGC MS-66 example, and comparison to the present AU coin is instructive as it suggests this was taken off of later dies. Lapping of the dies seems to be what created the curiously "notched" serifs seen for some letters, particularly the bottoms of the Ls. While certainly not a specimen striking by any means, this highly appealing AU-53 stands on its own merits and displays beautiful Hershey-brown with slightly lighter dark pecan accents on the devices.
