Description: Captain Jack Collection. VAM-4, Top-100, the very simple eye-attribution "tail bar" variety. The 1890-CC had fewer than 4000 representatives in the GSA sales after 1964, and it is unfortunate we do not know what proportion were of the "tail bar" reverse. A thick die-gouge beneath the juncture of the arrow feathers and the eagle's tail bequeaths the name. A beaming white example that appears to grade slightly higher than MS-62 despite surface grazes in the obverse left field and mildly hairlining of the cheek.
