Lot Title: 1889-CC PCGS MS-60PL (green label)
Lot Number: 440
Description: Captain Jack Collection. Many collectors, used to seeing only circulated 1889-CC dollars, do not realize that a large percentage of the emission was struck prooflike. This is one such example, a no-question PL designee that probably borders upon DMPL for the reverse. That being said, the disadvantage of such reflectivity and brilliance is the propensity to pick up and magnifying abrasions, which is exactly what has taken place. Numerous whisper-light hairlines in the left field almost look like friction, and they are joined by a few surface grazes. Light cameo contrast emanates from the obverse while the reverse, again, presents a strong argument for being fully cameo-ed. The strike is dead-on typical for 1889-CC -- not full, but certainly adequate. A vibrant, near-white example.
