Description: Captain Jack Collection. 17 graded MS-65 PL, 5 higher at PCGS. Honey-gold interrupts the silvery brilliance in scattered areas of the obverse. Unlike the 1887/6-O, which retains a partial curve of the underlying "6" right of the date, the Philadelphia coins feature a lower curve hooked onto either side of the bottom of the "7". The effect is particularly noticeable for a prooflike example such as this, since an earlier die is implied, which in turn means the under digit hasn't disappeared as it might over the course of thousands of strikings.
