Description: The Alabama Collection. For type collectors, the best choice of example will typically be a common date available in a very high grade. Cue up the 1880-S Morgan dollar, which is plentiful (relatively speaking) up to the MS-67 grade represented here. Furthermore, a silver dollar might best be represented by a blazing, untoned white example, and at this level, the present specimen features an amazingly sharp strike and beautifully frosted details. Although not prooflike by any means, there is yet some cameo effect noticeable due to the way the shimmering fields contrast with the devices.
