Description: Orange peel effect on the neck (and elsewhere) attests to over used dies, which is a common phenomenon for 1931-S (and of course, many San Francisco dates in general). Look for pretty apricot-gold coloration that besets virtually the entire surface, infusing this "very gem" example with terrific eye appeal. Details are a little flatly struck on the obverse while the reverse manages very fair details overall, lacking precision only at the bison's midsection.
