Description: Newcomb-1. While not properly the method used to attribute early copper, observing the peripheral die-cracks on either side leads to the inevitable conclusion that this is the N-1 die-marriage, with the die-cracks superbly developed and prominent in this die-state. Slightly more reddish on the reverse, both sides feature delightful caramel-brown, dressed up beneath a fine layer of protective oil that brings out nice, sheening luster. Star 11 shows a handsome threadlike strike-through that could easily serve pedigree purposes.
