Lot Title: 1885-CC PCGS MS-65DMPL
Lot Number: 425
Description: VAM-3 is simple to attribute by the curved die line in front of Liberty's pupil. That an 1885-CC could survive at all with such limited evidence of bagmarks is remarkable in and of itself. But when carrying fragile DMPL surfaces, the odds of evading all contact are very steep, indeed. The amazingly beautiful, crystal-white fields and the frosted portrait have defeated the odds and exhibit surfaces that look as if they were struck out of pure water, free from color or disturbances. The strike is very nearly ideal, but subtle planchet striations remain on the cheek near Liberty's hair and across her ear, preventing an absolutely perfect strike.
