Description: Whisenhunt Collection. Common to the 1913-S, the mintmark is scarcely more than a blob, belying the overall decent strike off of heavily polished dies. One need view the flatly outlined recess around the eagle's head to realize this die saw a lot of polish and preparation in advance of striking. A difficult enough date at AU-58, 1913-S quickly escalates into key status above AU-58.
