Description: Athens Morning Collection. Even though the Vatican City is one of the tiniest nations on earth, it does in fact have its own fully operating mint. From souvenir sets to official mint sets the Vatican mint makes a variety of numismatic products that are collected worldwide. The one segment that the Vatican mint falls woefully short on is its gold coin production. An overwhelming majority of years they simply did not produce any gold coinage and when they did it was with tiny mintages. This 1948 five coin mint set is no exception with an extremely limited mintage 100 lire gold coin that is one of only 5,000 total pieces. The original plastic cellophane has kept this set in wonderful condition and is sure to please even the most diehard Vatican coin enthusiast (ck).
