Description: Smooth pearl-grey settles over most of the surface, surrounded by pretty coral-gold and orange toning that handsomely frames the central portraits. Strike quality is only about average for the date, which is to say, expect minor softness at the exact center, but very good details on balance. Each side has been lightly abraded from storage. Sometimes overlooked as a distinct grade-rarity within the Morgan dollar series, the 1904-S has seen its population statistics overstate at both grading services due to aggressive resubmissions, but practical experience shows that it is very elusive near the "gem" level.
