Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1884-S NGC AU-58
Lot Number: 350
Description: Bradford Pear Collection. Very few coins in all of U.S. numismatics suffer (or benefit?) from the huge swing in value on that cusp of AU-58/MS-60 as the 1884-S silver dollar. Recent sales place the coin in the $1500 range when certified as AU-58, but the esteem for this issue is such that a GSA soft-pack specimen, also graded AU-58, garnered $7000 only three years ago! Luster booms for this "slider" example and this is a fully frosty, well struck example with essentially UNC sharpness, but a plethora of wispy, light hairlines flutter into the fields and some extremely delicate friction may be seen on the highpoints.
