Description: Type I/I. Deeply saturated mulberry-grey suggests an overall appearance that must be fully original, replete with slightly glinting underlying luster and exceptionally nice detail. The 1873-CC suffers the dubious distinction of being typically found with problems, as many have been cleaned or mechanically altered over the years, so that makes the discovery of such a fine, vintage example all the better. Very few contact marks will be noticed on either side, with the obverse showing particularly nice, refreshing freedom from any such distraction. Certainly a better-than-average representative at the basic "about uncirculated" grade.
