Lot Title: 1859-O PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 247
Description: 140 graded MS-62, 114 higher at PCGS. Famously, an original bag of 1859-O (and 1860-O) silver dollars was found within Treasury holdings in the early 1960s, from which nearly all high-grade examples originate. The method of storage (a great, big burlap sack) prevented the coins from evading bagmarks, hence most seen are in the "select" grade range, with MS-62 being the most common assessment. A typical aluminum-white example, exquisite detail shows on both sides, along with lovely sweeping luster, but many tiny pinpoint marks are strewn into the fields.
