Description: M. Diatom Collection. McCloskey 4-C (R.3) typifies the "second head" and can be affirmed by the large date, with "6" perfectly centered beneath a curl, and no tongue for the eagle. Terrific luster activates the eye-appeal with its exuberant effects in the fields, and appealing medium-gold embraces the surface. As-struck, this must have been a superbly defined example as the reverse exhibits particularly accurate rendering of the design elements, including strongly separated segments within the eagle's talons.
