Description: The F. Raphael Collection. 23 graded MS-67, 3 graded MS-67 "star", zero higher at NGC. It's impossible to know how many 1962-D quarters have been melted in the years since the bullion content exceeded face value for pre-1965 silver; nevertheless, a mintage of well over 127-million quarters might have been expected to yield more than a mere couple dozen examples at the "superb Gem" level. Add to this dearth the astonishing eye-appeal of mint-set cardboard toning and the entire population of this date could rest upon the end of one's thumb! Fire-gold, ebony-cobalt and crimson-emerald bands peep through the patina and ensure maximum possible eye-appeal.
