Description: 118 graded MS-65, 22 higher at PCGS. Heavy erosion of the dies approaches the terminal level for both obverse and reverse, noticeable in each case by the overall softness, and particularly shown by metal flow toward the periphery of the reverse. Note how the lower FIVE CENTS appears distended, causing the bottom of some letters to be strongly doubled. Nevertheless, surprisingly nice satin luster flows readily across both sides, unimpeded by toning or carbon spots. The bison offers a strong, full horn - far from a given for this strike-challenged issue.
