Lot Title: 1794 Head of 1794 S-30 PCGS VF details/environmental damage
Lot Number: 692
Description: Sheldon-30 has five locks vertically aligned and well-placed digits in the date, and on the reverse, the right end of the ribbon extends much further downward than the left, not far from touching the rim. In this die-state III, die clashing is readily evident on either side, especially just above the cap, and a die-crack at 3:30 on the reverse spears through "R". Aesthetically, S-30 is one of the more attractive "head of '94" die-marriages due to the well-balanced presentation, and even with the PCGS "environmental damage" disclaimer, this is not a bad example, especially given sharpness right on the cusp of very-fine. At arm's length, a few minor depressions show on either side, and a loupe is required to notice more ragged planchet corrosion, and also some unfortunate, clumsy attempts to tool away the offensive texture.
