Lot Title: 1890-CC PCGS AU-58
Lot Number: 301
Description: The Lakewood Collection. 254 in AU-58 and 238 higher at PCGS. While no Carson City double eagle could be deemed common, a relatively high mintage of 91,209 coins were struck in 1890 making this year more accessible than most. The current example is a textbook slider coin in a PCGS AU-58 holder. Flashy cartwheel luster and rose gold obverse toning that is peeking in from the upper right results in great eye appeal. Minor wear on Liberty's portrait and scattered abrasions do keep this coin from being truly uncirculated, but it is nonetheless a great example of the type for any branch mint specialist (ls).
