Description: A visually arresting pair of gold coins demonstrates the possible disparity in appearance between a mere five points of technical grade separation. 1895-S in AU-50 is completely draped in butternut golden patina that yet manages to permit slightly flashy luster to burst forth on both sides. On the other hand, the 1905-S in AU-55 positively blazes with moonlight gold and looks virtually mint if not for slight wear and a fair number of circulation abrasions. Two coin lot.
