Description: A design popular with many collectors (and a particular favorite of the cataloger), the Pilgrim often appears with some level of toning, although few are going to approach the level of visual delight wrought upon the observer by this stunning example. Both sides are vastly album toned, with variegated, rhythmic circles of indigo, denim-blue, chartreuse, crimson-gold and amber outlining the central device on -- not one, but both sides. This surely is the result of Wayte-Raymond album storage over many decades. Add to this mix the presence of superior technical qualifications, and one has a nearly mark-free, well struck and shimmering lustrous jewel of inimitable appeal. That pretty much sums up the formula for Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.
