Description: The Quantum Collection. The 1915-S Panama-Pacific has rightly earned a reputation as a generally drab issue, given typically substandard production and frequent improper storage of numerous examples. All these complaints fly right out the window upon introduction of this astonishing, very-gem example. Album toning on the obverse has fortuitously taken on a cat's-eye pattern, surrounding an elliptical portion of the obverse with cinnamon-orange, powder-gold, turquoise, cobalt and indigo colors. The effect is utterly mesmerizing and must be seen to be believed. On the reverse, additional album toning incorporates a healthy portion of silver-rose, surrounded by Union-blue of varying intensity, plus a vivid sliver of rainbow color at upper right. For collectors used to the usual parade of suspect gems, the right to own such an outrageous beauty leads directly to qualification for the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.
