Description: The Quantum Collection. Sheldon-295 has a plain 4 obverse, mated to a reverse for which the top leaf falls directly beneath "S" above. The cataloger remembers seeing the astounding MS-67 BN example that sold for $150,000, and while XF-45 falls well shy of that wonder-grade, the lengths to which a collector will go to obtain a NICE (to him) classic-head large cent become obvious from that quick anecdote. Here lies a Choice XF example that features significantly more flowline luster than usual for the grade, suggestive of AU. Some very faded mint orange color even manages to lurk in the recesses, but one suspects a "silent net grade" that takes into account a few modest grey stains, and some hairlines on the portrait.
