Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1878-CC NGC MS-63, 1880-O NGC MS-62, and an 1885-O PCGS MS-64 CAC
Lot Number: 432
Description: Bert Davies Collection. Collector appeal: "rococo". Starting things out with a big loud bang is the 1885-O, upon which has been deposited an absolutely resplendent array of shimmering rainbow tones, drawn in shades of ultra-marine, violet, chartreuse, indigo-gold and blazing cyan. It's that famous style of mint-bag toning that can't be imitated, and therefore sells for multiples of "Grey Sheet value". A pair of better-date, white lustrous examples follow, including 1878-CC (very pale, with devastating strike precision), and 1880-O (seemingly nicer than the grade with steamy pale lavender tone over flashing luster, but affected by the abraded cheek). Three coin lot.
