Description: Brassy and sassy, the obverse actually features completely unexpected hints of reflectivity, as if the coin "wants" to be semi-prooflike, but can't quite overcome the imposing velvet-roll luster that predominates. 1923-D is one of the dates in the Saint-Gaudens series that can actually be found in superb gem grades, but none have been certified above MS-67 by PCGS, making a near-the-apex MS-66 like this an obvious sweet-spot representative for the type collector.
