Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1834 Large Date, Small Letters O-106 NGC MS-65
Lot Number: 697
Description: Overton-106 has an ill-shape large 4 repunched over a small 4 on the obverse, and small letters on the reverse, helping to quickly narrow down attribution possibilities. Soft, satiny mint luster shines through dusky sunrise-gold overtones that receive complementary accents from dashes of sky-blue layered atop highpoint design elements. Although technically struck well enough to allow for high grade assessment, the dies for O-106 were already worn by the time this half-dollar left production, and as virtually always seen, the junction of the eagle's left (observed) wing features very soft definition. No actual contact marks can be found on either side, as befits the MS-65 grade, yet a few trivial luster grazes are "toned in" on Liberty's cheek.
