Lot Title: Nearly complete collection of Mercury dimes in a Whitman 9118 album
Lot Number: 573
Description: Collector appeal: C+. Formidable effort on the part of the consignor has resulted in a highly lustrous collection of Mercury dimes that excludes only the 1916-D and the two overdates. Aside from that, it appears that a very few examples grade only XF (1921, 1921-D (AU/obverse damage), 1923-S, 1925-D, 1925-S, 1927-D, 1927-S, and 1945-D), a large portion grade AU (including highlights of 1917-D, 1919-D, 1924-D, 1924-S, 1926-S (cleaned), and 1927-D. Thus, remaining coins not mentioned appear to be Unc examples (or very nearly so), including such better dates as 1916-S, 1919, 1928-D (cleaned), 1928-S (cleaned), and numerous later coins, a few with pretty color. Add in a couple of keys, upgraded a dozen pieces, and the already-impressive lustrous presentation could only be some much the nicer for a true enthusiast!

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
