Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1864 cleaned, and an 1871 smoothed, both PCGS XF details
Lot Number: 236
Description: Blackjack Can Collection. Philadelphia struck only 30,700 dollars for the Civil War date of 1864, with very strong delineation obvious in this case, although the surface has been dulled to gunmetal-grey from an abrasive cleaning. The 1871 dollar is a common date in the series, with details for this example seemingly better than XF, although the surface seems to suffer from saltwater damage. Subsequent whizzing has merely amplified the microporous texture, and created false luster. Two coin lot.
